Please join us for our virtual Artist Round Table: What Does It Mean to Be Free on Thursday, February 4th at 2:00 PM featuring three muralists from our Fall 2020 Call for Art, Keisha De Leon, Jacob Ginga, and Meghan + Christopher Nichols.
Inspired by the African American singer, songwriter, and civil rights activist Nina Simone’s song, “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free,” we selected twenty (20) Massachusetts-based artists to display work on the local artist wall on Peabody Street awarded $1,000 each for their work. This year’s call allowed us to engage artists and the community in deeper conversations about freedom in America by providing the artists with both the canvas for their interpretation of the meaning of freedom as well as an outlet to explore it further.
Through the Artist Round Table, we’ll take a deeper exploration of the murals designed by Keisha, Jacob, and Meg + Chris, the artists themselves, and the impact of the project.
Art is a powerful form of communication. North Shore CDC believes that the visual combination of art and educational content create a tangible and impactful experience for the contributing artists, the community, and outside visitors to the open air museum.
